Medical billing and credentialing services in Washington

Washington practices work with Apple Health, enroll through ProviderOne, and face two major Blue plans, Premera Blue Cross and Regence BlueShield. That mix, plus Kaiser Permanente Washington, makes payer planning more involved than it first appears.

Provider credentialing and payer enrollment in Washington

Physician licensing here comes from the Washington Medical Commission. Medicaid, branded Apple Health, is administered by the Washington State Health Care Authority and providers enroll through ProviderOne. Most Apple Health members are served by managed care plans such as Molina Healthcare of Washington, Coordinated Care of Washington and Community Health Plan of Washington, each credentialing on its own. On the commercial side, Premera Blue Cross and Regence BlueShield are the two Blue names to plan for.

Medical billing and revenue cycle management in Washington

Washington claims go to different destinations depending on region and plan: Premera Blue Cross in much of the state, Regence BlueShield in parts of western and eastern Washington, and Apple Health managed care for Medicaid members. Medicare adds Noridian for the Part B side. Friction tends to come from eligibility and plan assignment changes, prior authorization requirements that differ by plan, and provider records in ProviderOne that do not match claims.

Washington billing and credentialing questions

How does Apple Health provider enrollment work?

Providers enroll with the Washington State Health Care Authority through ProviderOne, entering license, National Provider Identifier and practice details. Approval lets you serve Apple Health members, but managed care members need you contracted with their plan, so plan credentialing runs as a separate step.

Which payers should a new Washington practice credential with first?

Premera Blue Cross and Regence BlueShield are the usual commercial priorities, along with Medicare. Kaiser Permanente Washington matters for some specialties and referrals. If you will treat Apple Health patients, add ProviderOne enrollment and the managed care plans in your county.

Do Apple Health managed care plans credential separately?

Yes. Molina Healthcare of Washington, Coordinated Care of Washington, Community Health Plan of Washington and others each have their own credentialing and contracting, apart from ProviderOne enrollment. Confirm which plans serve your county, because availability varies by region.

Do we need to be near Brooklyn to work with Core MB?

No. Everything runs remotely: enrollment applications, payer follow-up, claims and reporting. Practices in Washington get the same team, the same client portal and the same monthly reporting as a practice around the corner from our office.
